After six generations of winemaking in Australia, the Gilbert family first opened The Cellar by Gilbert in 2016. Located on the edge of town in Mudgee, the stunning sandstone building foregoes the traditional cellar door model offering guests the chance to enjoy award-winning wines and share plates made from locally sourced and homegrown produce in a relaxed, wine-bar like environment. Winemakers and owners Simon and Will Gilbert are also often found splashing wine into glasses if there aren’t any grapes to crush, ferments to check or wines to bottle. The Cellar by Gilbert offers both current and museum release Gilbert wines from Orange, Mudgee and Eden Valley.
Tastings and take-away sales are available daily. There is a tasting fee of $10 per person which is redeemable upon take-away wine purchases.
Wine lovers looking to explore Gilbert wines in greater detail can enjoy the Gilbert’s tailor-made masterclasses that delve deep into the production of their wines. Join us Saturday mornings from 11am for a wine masterclass led by one of our winemakers. We will explore the basics of wine tasting and appreciation while showcasing a selection of wines from the Gilbert range. You will learn about different styles and regions whilst enjoying a small bite, made from our garden and local produce. Each masterclass is $20 per person and approximately an hour long.
Spend the afternoon relaxing to some live music in our garden with ‘Afternoon Vibes’ the second Sunday of each month.
